New Companion, New Places, and New Foods
Talofa everyone!
So sorry that my email is a day late. But we'll just say its right on schedule American Time. I hope you're all doing amazing. It sounds like everyone is staying busy and having a good time. And I can gladly say I'm doing the same! It's been quite the week so I won't waste anytime.
This week we had transfers so I sadly said goodbye to Elder Macgraw and Elder De Silva, they'll do great things in their new areas, and I got my new comp for the next six weeks. His name is Elder Willis, and he is a riot. He's a super great missionary, hard working and very spiritual. But he's also one of the funniest guys I've met, we end up just laughing and having a good time no matter what we're doing. He's from Mesa Arizona and is a Rugby player. Super awesome guy, and I cant wait to see where this transfer takes us. I know there's big things in store.
We started the first few days without our car, so we were taking the bus and walking everywhere. It's kinda fun, makes you feel like a real missionary. But we accidently missed one of out buses and we're like welp, now what? So we decided to walk around and knock one of the streets we were near. After that, we looked up what was nearby for lunch and started walking a couple kilometers that direction. Along the way, we found a super awesome mechanic shop that was half museum, with some super cool old cars and sweet things all over the walls and stuff. So we walked around there and it was nice a little break, super cool place and super nice guys there. We continued on to our lunch place, which was a sandwich shop that looked super good. We ended up meeting some people that were there, who turned out to be members. So they bought us lunch and we were super grateful for that. I had a Birria melt sandwich and it
was BOMB💣 prolly one of the best things I've had in a while.

The next day was the 4th of July, so I was kinda bummed that I was missing out on all the festivities at home. But that's okay cuz we had our own type of fun. We started out bussing towards the beach and visiting a couple people. We also walked around this little town square thing and found a little American store, there were so many snacks and candy and drinks that I had been missing. It was fun to look around. I got a Dr pepper and some sour patch watermelons to commemorate the 4th. We then got a call that our car was good to be picked
up, so we headed to get that from the mission office. They had a little party going on there so we had some red white and blue cupcakes. That night we had a pickleball night with some of our new members and investigators, as well as some of the other missionaries. So that was a lot of fun, and after we had some sparklers and Old Glory there to take some photos and had our own firework display of about 10 sparklers. It was better than nothing at least.

I have decided to read the entire Book of Mormon within this transfer, so I have been going hard on that. It's about 6 chapters a day to finish in time, so it's been fun reading a bunch each day. I feel like I get more and more each time I read it, so I'm looking forward to the insights I find this time.
Yesterday we had a district Pday and took a road trip down south. We went to a big lighthouse and lookout point, it was beautiful. We spent some time walking around there and looking at everything. Then we drove down a little further to a place called Flinders Blowhole, which was a little cave inlet where the waves would crash in. It was super awesome and we walked around the tide pools there's for a while. It was a super fun time, and the drive was so beautiful. I love the country around here, and it makes me much more appreciative of it now
that I'm stuck in the city. There's not much country in Moorabbin, so I take advantage of it when I get out there.

The ward here is awesome and I've been able to make some great relationships, hopefully i am able to leave a positive impact on all the amazing people here. Shout out to Sister Ormsby, she wanted to let my grandparents know not to worry, she's taken role as honorary grandma for now and is taking good care of me. They're awesome.
My studies this week took me to a verse within the Doctrine and Covenants. Chapter 117 verse 13 reads, "Therefore, let him contend earnestly... and when he falls he shall rise again, for his sacrifice shall be more sacred unto me than his increase, saith the Lord." We all face all kinds of trials and hard times that we have to sacrifice for, and sometimes we may not always see the results of that. But remember that the sacrifice you made is more sacred unto the lord. The fact that you took that step and put in the effort is enough. And although you may not see the direct results, the Lord will bless us for our works and sacrifice.
I love you all so much, and I hope all is well. We're still fighting winter here so I'm a little jealous of the summer you guys are having, but that's okay. It'll be the opposite here soon enough. Sadly no big updates in our investigators or friends, but I have the faith they will progress and feel the love and joy of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, it just takes some patience. Let me know if you ever need anything, and I thank you all for your messages and emails. Until next week, TTFN.
much love,
ELDER REDDISH
