What the Heck is a Kilometer?
What is going one everybody!!
Another week down, so another email headed your way. This week has been a good one that's for sure. They really don't mess around here and they just throw you straight in the deep end and put you to work, but I honestly wouldn't have it any other way. Its not just work tho, we have plenty of fun times too, so it balances out nicely.
This week there was lots of little miracles and spiritual moments, but I'll share the biggest two with yall. The first one was having the chance to be visited by Elder Kearon of the 12. It was so much fun to be able to hear from him, and meet him. He spoke mostly about embracing the change of serving a mission and finding joy in the work. We are sharing a message of joy, so it should bring you joy, but we also must share that message with joy and look like it brings us happiness. So that was fun. He was also super funny, he cracked jokes the whole time and it was a riot.
The second one I would like to share was the baptism we had yesterday. It was super spiritual and you could just feel the joy, and he was just glowing. It was an awesome experience and I'm glad I was able to be a part of that. It was awesome for sure and I can't wait to continue the work and share this opportunity with everyone.
We stay busy around here, on the day to day we do a few hours worth of knocking. We've even gone to a busy street market area and did some street contacting which was kind of awkward, but fun. And of course we are eatin GOOOOD. The food here is incredible, and because of the mixture of cultures there's so much. Some of my favorites so far have been Halal Snack Packs, which are practically just loaded fries with meat and cheese and sauce. And Bahn Mis which are like Vietnamese sandwich rolls with crispy pork in them, they're so so good. I'm already feeling the weight start to stack on finally. Hopefully I'll make it home with a sweet 20 extra pounds, at least. I may need to look into getting some new pants soon if that ends up happening tho.
Driving here is still weird, and I genuinely don't understand the distances and speeds and things, but that's okay. I don't have to worry about that quite yet, I just ride along. So far the biggest differences I have noticed are in the food. They are a little more healthy here, which means it doesn't taste as good. Specifically the Mountain Dew. I got some from Costco (so glad they have Costco, it feels like home in there) and it is definitely different. But hey I'll take what I can get.
Easter here has been awesome and we got treated well and we were fed well on Easter. Since we're ahead a day here, we've already had our Easter. We've been able to spend time with the other Elders in our district which is always fun, and they're cool. I have yet to see a kangaroo, so I'm starting to believe they might not be real. Just a marketing strategy to get people to Australia, but I'll keep you up to date on that. It's starting to get colder and its been kind of rainy here, so winter is knocking at the door, and I'm ready to bust out some sweaters (or jumpers as they say here) I've adapted to mission life super quick and I love it, and supposedly I'm doing good for a greenie but we'll see I guess.
That's about all from me tho, sorry it wasn't anything too exciting. I love you all and can't wait to hear from you. Send me an email with any questions or stories or anything at all. Hope your all doing well and I miss you all. Let me know if you need anything at all from me, and I'll do my best. Much love from the land down undah.
Talk to yall later,
Elder Reddish
(P.S. Clay Smith and Coleby Payne are on the climb, iykyk, I'm hoping they keep climbing and do well. Keep me updated on all that jazz if you would)
